Zhitong Financial APP learned that Peloton(PTON) in the U.S. stock market session on Tuesdaypongarcade.US) shares surged more than 12%, following reports that several private equity firms had been considering acquiring the connected fitness company.

According to people familiar with the matter, Peloton has been in talks with at least one company in recent months. It's unclear how interested the companies are in acquiring Peloton, or whether other companies have held formal discussions with the fitness company.

A Peloton spokesperson declined to comment. The spokesperson said: "pongarcadeWe do not comment on speculation or rumors."

After Peloton's shares have plunged 55% in the past year, the company announced on Thursday that Barry McCarthy would resign as CEO, president and board member. By the end of the year, McCarthy will become the company's strategic adviser.

Peloton also announced that it will reduce its global workforce by approximately 15%.
